Due Nov 8th

DUE:
Show your quicktime using the HDR you photographed.
(using photos shot by instructor is allowed)

In class:
Today we need to return to the topic of choosing a concept for a VFX shot that we can now match real world lighting with.

We have learned how the following must be correct to match real world lighting:
  • scale
  • color space, Linear
  • render out using 32bit or half float 16bit EXR's
  • we know how to generate our own custom environment lighting using a light probe. (last class)
Need to resolve:
  • rendered frames may not be correct, (frames must be viewed in 32bit viewer)

Spend class researching looking for what visual effect you want to do, when you find your top 3 ideas run them by me.

Next class you will each present your top 3 ideas in PPT form and from that pool we will chose 2 to be made by the class.   Using both a class vote and instructor input (instructor reserves powers of dictatorship) to come to a final choice.

Guidelines:
  • simple is better
  • 5-10 second effect
  • Include sketches and plans of set
  • Explain technically how you will solve the challenge
  • what measurements will you take?
  • Fact: on set you will shoot both a locked off version and handheld version of appropriate
  • Class, together let's find a proper light probe for these 2 projects
